Last week I bought a new Galaxy S6 with a temporary number. I'd spent over a week fudging about trying to port an old phone number to the new phone. A few days ago I was successful and gave a representative over the phone all of the necessary information. Today when I called from somebody else's phone to verify the status of the porting, I was prompted with a successful port message. The issue is, my phone is not working, and the TracFone that I was using before has been disconnected. So now all I have is a small computer that cannot make calls or texts.
Could somebody please help me with this?

Did you get a text message on your phone confirming the port was complete? Verizon will send a "Welcome to Verizon Wireless" text message to your phone, asking you to turn it off and back on.
You have done that, correct?

I bought the phone at Best Buy on the 28th. I am going with a monthly
plan. I called the number last night, but what are the hours available to
contact support, because I work most of the day and am unable to call.

It was. OP stated their phone was purchased with a temporary number. This is common to do when purchasing a new phone when changing carrier, as it is easier and more reliable to do a port over a temp number rather than port to an inactive device. That temporary number provides the full line of service to them.

Just tried to restart my phone, nothing has changed, my phone is still
inactive. I started the port process after leaving the store.

I retract that statement, restarting it didn't work, but turning it off
completely before turning it back on seems to have worked. Thank you.
