I recently blocked a number using one of the 5 free blocks. The person who I blocked has AT&T. If she tries to text me, will she get an error message or any kind of notification that I have blocked her number? She has an iphone and so do I, so if she tried to message me, it would actually be an imessage, I think.
If it goes through as an imessage then you will still receive it. Number blocks are for standard calls and SMS text messages. Imessages go through data and as such are not affected by the block.
Interesting...so she would still be able to imessage me?
What if it went through as a text? Would she receive any kind of indication that her message was blocked?
I believe SMS messages go off into limbo, blocked at the carrier level. If she calls your number, should get a default Verizon message that you are not accepting calls from this number.
iMessage goes around Verizon and just uses Data, however you can 'block' them as well.
Delete this person as a contact, and follow the below:
In notifications, goto messages and you will see "show iMessage Alerts from". Instead of the option "Everyone", select "My Contacts Only".
So if they are not on your contact list, they cannot contact you via iMessage either.
I can provide clarity csbabyshower! Blocked individuals who call a customer will hear the message: "Welcome to Verizon Wireless. The number you were trying to reach has calling restrictions which has prevented the completion of your call." The text will simply not be received. The call and messaging block feature will not block specific numbers for messages using iMessage. Muchas gracias.

That's a great question! She will get a notification indicating that message cannot be sent. If you send a message to her (if you block her number), you will also get a message indicating that you cannot send text message to that number as a block has been set by the account owner.
