What happened to Unlimited Data?

Remember the days of not having to worry about using too much Data? Yeah, those were the good days. I know Verizon wants more money, but do they realize that every other provider has unlimited data? But wait, Verizon has the ultimate defense "America's Largest 4G LTE Network". Still I find it annoying that it has come down to limiting the use of Data. Customers that don't travel much on the east coast might start leaving Verizon for another company with Unlimited Data. Believe it or not, AT&T and Sprint are catching up with their coverage across the country. With the advancements in technology, almost everyone is getting a new smart phone with 4G on it, but they are limited to 1 and 2 GB of data. I know personally that I come really close to my data cap. I usually end with .100 GB left. When I hang out with people I see them watching shows, playing games, and downloading things with their data. I always ask them if they are using WiFi, but the answer is always no I have Unlimited Data. I would love to watch movies, videos, play games, and download files on my 4G but that would obviously take up more than my 2GB allowance. How do you guys feel about Verizon's decision to limit your data? Its our data we should be able to use it without the fear of using too much of it!

AT&T also discontinued unlimited data, like Verizon.  Only the 2 smaller, with much less intercity coverage currently have unlimited offers. If unlimited is important to you, do what the free market does best, switch.  Vote with your dollars.

Don't get me wrong I love Verizon and I don't plan on leaving any time soon, but I just miss Unlimited Data. I also just wanted to pick a random topic to start a discussion about to get points lol. If anything Verizon should try what AT&T does with the "Rollover Data" any data not used last month is transferred over to next month.

You posted some fluff just to get "points?"  What would you use these "points" for anyway?

You do understand why there is no more unlimited right? Things aren't anything like they used to be. Videos can be played in 4k hd. 8GB+ in 45 minutes of video, not the old 500mb in 2 hours of video. So not only do things now use more data than ever, more people than ever use data. So between those 2 things the lovely term congestion comes into play. Ever try driving though a big city at rush hour? You get nowhere fast. Now think of your cellular pathways as the highway and now you have rush hour, plus 400 bus tours, school letting out, and a riot in the streets. Now you really aren't getting more than a few inches an hour thats what unlimited data would do under current circumstances.

Dude chill it's just some random point thing for your profile. I thought it would be cool to have some points, so I posted something. I Can't delete my "fluff" now anyway, so the fluff is staying.

Just to add to the discussion...for those that don't still have their grandfathered unlimited data there are far more data options than just 1-2 gbs. Yes, you have to pay for more if you want more but it exists.

Here's an interesting article from someone who is not a verizon/vzw apologist.
