What a terrible sales experiences.

Last night I dropped my phone and shattered the screen.  I drove to the local Verizon Wireless store (304 Mercer Mall S/C, Mercer Mall Shopping Center, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648).  I arrived at 7:45 pm but was dismayed to find the doors already locked.  The store was still full of customers but an employee came and told me that after 7:45 they don't let any new customers into the store.  I left - deciding that wouldn't ever purchase a device from that store.

Then this morning on the way to work I walked past the Verizon store on 34th St. in Manhattan.  I slipped inside and was two employees said hi to me.  I showed them my shattered screen.  "I need to buy a new phone," I said.  The guy holding a tablet nodded.  "Let's get you signed up for a sales associate," he said and then asked me for my name.  I gave it to him and then I waited.  And waited.  Waited for 15 minutes until I needed to leave for work.  In between that time a gentleman in a white shirt, who I can only assume was a manager, walked out to the front.  They all just stood there. Nobody offered to take my money in exchange for your products.  As I walked out, still without a new phone, the girl standing in front said in a cheery voice, "Have a nice day!"

I'm going to go to one more store at noon during my lunch break.  If I need to wait more than 15 minutes to give your company hundreds of dollars in exchange for a product I'm switching carriers.  I will never give your company another dollar again.

so you went at store having to buy something for you but you have only 15mins in morning and the time you went there at night they were in process to close now tell us how they can help you

if you are in hurry and don't have time to spare to make purchase I am not surprised you left empty handed.

you give V a dollar or not that's your opinion and decision but who ever you selected as your new cell phone carrier I hope you do give them chance by giving spare time of you not just a 15 minutes.

You're right ... what an unreasonable expectation I had.  To be able to walk into a store and purchase something.  I don't think there's anyone with that business model.

just wondering did you advised them in store you have only 15 minute to do business or ask them if they can help you right away as you on limited time and in hurry ?

I don't think you were asking fast food you were asking for new phone a working phone not just a box with phone

The process of upgrading a device and setting it up takes at least 30-45 minutes. You wanted to walk into a store 15 minutes before closing time, get behind other customers, wait at least 15 minutes and expect them to do a 30-45 minute job? Do those people not have the right to go home? You're not walking into BestBuy then buying something off the shelf to take home and play with. That is why they wouldn't let you in at 7:45.

That is also why you didn't get the assistance you expected in the NY store. That is why you can buy online. It will ship to you and you can set it up when you DO have the time. You can't walk into a store and expect to get assistance immediately.

You just don't get what you want exactly at the moment that you want it. Get over it. Go to the store when you have more than 15 minutes for your transaction. Good luck getting that anywhere else too.

I Am assuming you switched carriers, but then found out there is a wait there as well. You don't get instant gratification walking into a store. You have to follow procedure.

You can't expect to get in and out in 15 mins. I have had to wait and do the whole upgrade it took about 2 hours. Just be patient if you need quick and fast service do online.

Yep, not simple buying a phone any more. I've bought cars in less time than it takes some to buy a phone.

My advice, buy a cheap low cost phone as a back-up so you will be prepared next time if you can't live w/o a phone for a couple days, or go back to a drama free flip phone.
