Verizon charging $5 a month to block unavailable nuisance calls??!?!!?

I don't know about anyone else, but this really just stinks. This is a static setting that should be provided as part of ANY level service purchased from Verizon. I am not talking about blocking specific numbers, oddly, they allow a few of those for free. I am talking about blocking unavailable calls. If it pisses you off like it does me that Verizon is trying to charge $5 a month extra just to not allow anonymous calls, its actually cheaper for the same service at trapcall.com, if you pay for a year or more of service.

On my comcast phone, you just hit *77.  End of story.

On ATT Wireless, customers have to pay monthly fee to block even one phone number that is even visible.

Verizon Wireless lets their customers block up to five known numbers for free for 90 days.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Ok, so ATT is screwing you over worse than Verizon is screwing me over. Point taken. Unfortunetly, there is no phone number TO block, or this wouldn't be an issue. There is probably a round about way to do this in conjunction with Google voice, acting as a middle man.

Offers the same service as Verizon is charging $5 a month for, for $3.71 a month if you sign up for 2 years.

If you have a smartphone, there might be applications available to automatically block unknown callers.

Also I don't have ATT. I am just aware that similar controls have different costs and features across the carriers.

Why not take the "unavailable call" from your phone log, and simply assign it a silent ringer? I did that on my phone. Everytime it "rings" it doesnt "ring".
