I will be switching to vs. at the end of the month and have heard different thing about buying at either store. People said that is I buy from a reseller a corporate store wont even look at the phone if I have a problem. Can someone tell me the pros/cons from buying at each store? Thanks
The biggest difference between corporate and authorized retailers is the return policy. VZW corporate locations have a standardized 30 Worry Free Guarantee policy. If you purchase your phone from one corporate store, from VZW cusotmer service, or online from My Verizon, you can return your phone for a new one or get your money back within 30 days from the purchase at any corporate store, or by sending the phone back to the direct fullfilment warehouse if you ordered it online or from customer care. There is a $35 restocking fee if you exchange the phone for a different color or model.
Authorized Retailers set their own return policy and vary from location to location.
If you purchase your phone from an authorized dealer, the corporate stores will definitelly help you try to troubleshoot/resolve the issue with the phone. If it's covered under warranty, the corporate stores will replace the phone from stock if on hand or order one for you at no charge. However if the phone is still "new" and is defective, you will need to take it back to the authorized dealer where you purchased the phone for an exchange or money back under their policy.
Also, authorized retailers can offer different prices on phones and accessories, while VZW direct agents have standardized pricing. The exception is that currently you can get instant rebates if ordering on My Verizon, while direct stores and customer care offer the mail in rebate option.
Only direct locations can offer VIP upgrade discounts if you're enrolled in the program (fyi you can't enroll in it, VZW enrolls your account based upon varying factors). Also, not all authorized retailers honor the Early/Annual Upgrade option for primary lines on share plans and single lines with a price plan of $49.99 for three months or greater.
Authorized retailers offers great service to their customers and offer more locations usually than corporate locations in a market. As long as you feel comfortable with their salespeople and ask questions about their sales policies, I would not hesitate purchasing from them.

When upgrading, there is no activation fee. Activation fees apply when one is adding an additional line of service, or getting a new line of service. Upgrade dates are 20 months into contract. Personally I prefer to upgrade on my verizon to take advantage of instant rebate & there are no lines on my verizon. Go into any Direct VZW store to play with the phones there & find exactly what you like and has the feel & look you want, then go home and order online.

Purchasing/upgrading your phone from an authorized retailer will not cause you an problems upgrading later at a corporate store and vice versa.
Second what Lisa said above but just to add that there is one type of upgrade, an Annual/Early Upgrade, that has a $20 fee.
Their's minor difference in charges some authorized Retailers may charge a fee for setting up your phone and transfertran of info to your new phone corporate will not transfer information to new phone other then that phones come from same place so looking at phone corporate won't do either way but when it comes to returning phones you are only able to return if corporate any corporate location works if authorized it must be at 1 if those authorized dealers
