Verizon Is Not Allowing Their Customers To Play LEGAL Online Poker On Ultimate Poker!!

Good Evening Fellow Verizon Customers,

On April 30, 2013, the State Of Nevada has legalized Online Poker to be played on Ultimate Poker.com.

However, it is very important to understand in order to do so, besides needing to prove you are at least 21 years of age, one prerequisite is to be able to have your Cell Phone and your Computer's IP Address geolocated in the State of Nevada. In order for Ultimate Poker to verify you are in the State of Nevada, they use a Location Based Service to triangulate your Cell Phone and Computer's IP Address position.

As of right now, ALL VERIZON USERS are being shut out from Ultimate Poker because VERIZON has not allowed for their phones to be geolocated.

Customers of other service providers, such as AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, are having a 96% success rate of verifying they are in the State of Nevada upon logging in at Ultimate Poker.com.

VERIZON, I have lived in the State of Nevada for 23 years and have been a customer of yours around 10 years now. I no longer wish to go into a smoke-filled casino to play live poker. I would rather do it in the privacy of my home.

I would ask that you allow your customers the right to play legalized online poker at Ultimate Poker.com, just as long as they are following the Nevada State Gaming Laws. Furthermore, I would ask that you allow The Location Based Service Ultimate Poker Uses To Verify My Geo Location.

Finally, I want you to realize I do pay $175.00 monthly for Verizon Wireless Services. My 2 year contract does expire on May 30th. I've been a loyal customer of Verizon for several years. Frankly, I don't want to switch my 3 cell phones to a different carrier. However, you may force me to do so if you do not allow me to play Online Poker at ULTIMATE POKER.com

Thank you,

David >> personal information removed <<

I have a case open with Verizon right now trying to drive them to get this resolved.  My contract is up in two months and I have no issues leaving if they want to pretend they can control my legal rights.

Cell phones are not the proper venue for playing online poker legal or not.

I doubt AT&T or Sprint or even T-Mobile give such access. the triangulation is done via GPS so if your in Nevada the phone should give a signal to the online gambling server and it may simply be cell phones are not set up for this feat at the present time. Verizon does not guarantee any right to websites.

Take it up with the poker site.

How much you pay each month does not get you any perks other customers are not getting.

call *611 or 800-922-0204 and talk to tech support.

And there are no legal rights with regards to what websites Verizon Wireless wants to give access to. Its their network, and like porn sites being blocked they can block gambling sites also.

Use your home computer.

And have a great time at AT&T or other provider.

The phone is not used to PLAY poker.  Your home computer/laptop is.  The phone is simply used as a device to determine if you are located inside the state of Nevada.  This way you can't proxy your IP address and play from another state.

Verizon has the capability and it's already being used for other non-dialing applications.  In fact, if you use the sports betting app from Station Casinos (the same casino partnered with UltimatePoker), "Sports Connection", even with a Verizon phone, it will utilize the GPS and allow you to make sports wagering via your phone.

VZW does not block porn sites or any other that I know of. In fact all that these users are asking for is why the geolocation appears to not be working so they can authenticate with the website. As customers they have no reason to NOT ask why it is not working.

Also, who is to say the phone is the wrong device to play poker? It is nothing but a mini-computer with a CDMA radio, so you should be able to play on that, your laptop, tablet, etc.

Amazingly your computer and tablet have that authentication capability so the cell phone is kind of crazy to be used for proof.

The other thing that comes to mine is a customer can have a cell number from Nevada. And live in Texas or another state. There is too much that can be wrong if the colocation is based on a cell phone.

Good Luck
