Verizon Edge - FCC Complaint

I filed a complaint against Verizon Wireless with the FCC for false advertising:

1. Upgrade anytime you want:

They do not let you upgrade anytime you want. You can only upgrade when your phone is "Eligible for Upgrade" or if you "Change your plan".

This is blatant false advertising.

If you must "Change you plan" it violates the "No Contracts" portion of the advertised program.

I encourage more people to file complaints when you run into this issue:

You can upgrade anytime you want.  You just have to pay full retail price, buy a used phone or use the device payment plan (the other plan not the Verizon Edge plan).

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Well, it does say on the main page as well:

"After 6 months, with at least 50% of your phone’s price paid off, you’re eligible for upgrades."

But I agree, this plan does nothing but lock the consumer into a payment/upgrade cycle that is never ending, unless you double down on your device payments, or stick it out for 2 years paying $450 extra for your phone, regardless of the model.

These were my thoughts on the subject:

Yes, you "Can" upgrade anytime you want, but NOT through Verizon Edge.

That is exactly the point.

You "CANNOT" upgrade anytime you want through the advertised Verizon Edge Program, which says "Upgrade anytime you want".

You probably can, but you have to meet the terms and conditions of the Verizon Edge program.

Most programs have some kind of restrictions on what falls within the program or not. Why wouldn't this Verizon Edge program be any different?

If the program has said restrictions, they should be prominently displayed with asterisk notifications at the end of the statement that has the said qualified restrictions.

Verizon has not done this.

The Verizon Edge Program says, "Upgrade Anytime you Want", "No Contracts" --- These broad statements are immediately invalidated by any restrictions.
