Verizon Data Charges Have No Logic - Agree or Disagree?
common_sense365

So let me get this straight. Verizon has been having this so called special running for some time now in which it supposedly offers you "twice the data for the same low price". So going along with that logic, wouldn't it make total sense to have an alternate special in which they offer the original data amount at half the original price? That way they could let the subscribers choose which special they would like to take.

How could this hurt them in any way if it is just the flip side of what they are currently doing? I don't understand how everything with Verizon seems to be about how much money they can make from subscribers.

As you can tell, I am not happy at all with Verizon's data charges and refuse to pay $30 for data. I like Verizon services, but will be looking elsewhere when my contract expires in June.

Let me know your thoughts on this discussion.

The special is to get users to select 4G LTE phones. The 3G phones have kept the regular price for data plans.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Understandable, but how bout creating something to keep the loyal customer who have been with Verizon for years. In addition, if I was getting a 4G LTE phone, I would still only be willing to pay half of what they are currently charging for data. NO EXCUSE.

VZW has promos all of the time. They are usually not going to advertise them all wildly, like they did with the 4GB for $30. Again, the drive is to push the users to 4G devices now, obviously. Also, from what I understand, they just had a promotion that charged something like $10 or $20 for 300MB; I believe this ended at the end of last year. For loyal customers, though, they are given little perks like, for example, I can keep my unlimited data package if I choose to upgrade to another smartphone, whereas new smartphone users will have to choose one of the data packages with the cap.

The problem is that we don't always understand that they can charge whatever they deem fit and when we are given little perks, we have a tendency to say, "That's it?!" We agreed to their terms for the service and we really should be grateful for the little things we take for granted.

You sound like a Verizon employee. I am going to assume that you are. Verizon has every right, as a private business, to charge whatever they want to charge, but I urge every consumer to force Verizon to charge what is fair. I understand that they have to make a profit and they definitely should, but there is no need being unreasonably greedy.

Why would anyone pay $20 for 300MB of data, when you have 4GB of data being offered for $30? What type of logic is that? Why not offer 1GB for $10 or $15 and 2GB for $15 or $20? WHY NOT...........BECAUSE THAT SOUNDS TOO MUCH LIKE RIGHT!!!

The only official Verizon Wireless employees on this user peer to peer forum are clearly marked in their rank as "Wireless Employees".

A wireless employee has not responded to this thread yet and might not.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

ummm....because they don't want to pay $30 because they don't feel they need that much data.....kind of like you. it is obvious that none of their promotions would have been satisfactory to you any way. also, when they ran that promotion they only offered 2gb's for $30, so if you used mostly wifi or rarely used data, they gave you an opportunity to get a smartphone for only $20/month instead of $30/month. to summarize, they have offered less data for a smaller fee and more data for the same fee....neither of which you care for.

Any time a person disagrees with another on here, they are accused of being paid by VZW. Sometimes, you are just simply wrong because you are wrong and, shockingly enough, there are loyal and knowledgeable customers in this community (see Budone and SuzyQ, for example).

As for logic, full time schooling, majoring in Philosophy, has made this my area of expertise. It is not that the data charges are logical or not, for Verizon Wireless can charge anything they want, logically speaking, of course. The matter is whether or not it is ethical to charge what they charge and, if one were to consider the ethical side of things, you might have a better argument; however, all you are doing is presenting an argument and trying to find validation by the amount of supporters you can find, but "the crowd is untruth".

Logic? The logic behind any business is to make money. If you feel different, then go with Sprint, they have unlimited data. I don't understand your logic for this post.
