@Marco

https://wbillpay.verizonwireless.com/vzw/secure/messageIntercept/messageInterceptHomeSpam.action i got you the direct link to INTERNET SPAM BLOCKING which is never blocked if you have usage controls or do not. Trust me please go here it works, try it one more time.

You will see it is different then CALL & MESSAGE BLOCKING (which is not available when you have usage controls as they do the same thing, and Call & Message Blocking is limited to 5 vs 20, and is 1 way vs 2way, and is temporary 90 days). It has a very different URL: https://wbillpay.verizonwireless.com/vzw/secure/messageIntercept/messageInterceptHome.action

You will know you are on Internet Spam Blocking because it states:

  Block Details for:3019575136

You can block up to 15 email addresses (name@name.com), domains (www.domain.com), and/or
  text names (nickname@vtext.com).

  Message Blocking Preferences
These settings apply to all messages from any sender.

Block all text messages sent from the web.
Block all text messages sent from email.

You will see there is an option to block all text messages sent from the web, or you can specify domains like www.facebook.com etc

As the parent and the owner of the phone, we have the right to keep the phone at night until they develop self-discipline.  Good luck!

Dear LeonardM:

It has been awhile since I read this post as I thought my efforts were exhausted.  I did follow your link to try to limit my child's access to facebook.  What happened was the following:

The phone number listed was MY OWN number.  I did not get an option to limit my child's number.  I did not list the FB site here because I do not want to limit access to FB from MY personal phone.  I just don't see a way to do this on my child's phone thru this site.  I have visited it many times.  Your info is indeed most helpful, however, my child has learned to bypass my usage limits on texting and use the FB chat site and other chat sites via the web.  I am most frustrated.

Kindly,

I recently found that to limit data on a phone with usage controls you need to call Tech support andthey can do it. I was surprised that it was not an option directly to the parent when blocking types of usage, but apparently they can do it there.

Good Luck.

marco, no offense intended, but as a parent who just went through a similar situation (daughter texting boys) i have to ask this question...

why havent you taken the phone away????? when my daughter got caught texting after 9, she lost the use of it after school (weekdays). then she got caught texting a boy, so we took it away for a month. then she got caught sneeking it to text him again, and its gone for good now. she doesnt get it back... period.

kids dont NEED cell phones to function, they just WANT them. hell i dont even need one.

you and the origional poster want verizon to raise your children! you need to take control of the situation and stop blaming verizon. they may not be the best with customer service, but you cant fault them for something they DONT provide!

I think asking for the Usage Controls that Verizon advertises and provides to function as described is hardly asking Verizon to raise their children.  For one thing, if Verizon doesn't want to bother with the controls, they could just stop offering them.  If they do offer them though, people who pay for them should be able to get them to work.

Asking Verizon to raise your child would be asking Verizon to automatically know what is appropriate for your child when he/she touches the phone and adjust all settings accordingly without any input from the parent.  Asking for a blocking feature to work correctly when the PARENT takes the initiative to set it actually sounds like good parenting to me.  Use the tools that are available to you to help your child be safe and make good choices, and expect those tools to function when you pay for them, should be a reasonable request to Verizon.
