I am due for an upgrade in 35 days on one of my lines and I have a few questions:
1. If I elect to do the device payment plan when buying a new phone am I able to keep my current iPhone 6s? It was purchased on a subsidized contract plan.
2. With the device payment plan my bill is essentially 3 things: access fee of 20, phone payment of about 37, and my data fee. Is this correct?

When you complete the 2 year contract, the phone is yours to keep. If you are offered an upgrade before the 2 years is up, you just turn in your current phone. The iPhone 6s is only 1 year old, so I suspect you have not completed the contract. You'll need to hand the phone in if that is the case. Unless you used an upgrade from a different line. What does contract end date say on My Verizon (can be different than upgrade date)
With DPP, your bill is those 3 components. If you do a $399 down payment you get to the same point as old contracts - $399 up front, and $20 a month extra for 24 months.
