1-800-verizon is for Verizon home service, DSL and FiOS service

It is not the tech support number for Verizon wireless.

*611 from a cell phone or 1-800-922-0204 for customer service or technical support. Listen to the voice prompts and push for tech support.

I used 1-800-922-0204 from a landline less than two weeks ago and got a rep to assist me.
