I was wondering... if an unlocked device (not branded to any carrier) that requires a SIM and supports the frequencies VZ operates on, will it work? Or does it have to be an unlocked VZ phone?

These are the tech specs for the device:

Network bands

FD-LTE 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20 (2100/1900/1800/1700/850/2600/900/700/700/800 MHz)

HSPA+ 1, 2, 4, 5/6, 8 (2100/1900/1700/850/900 MHz)

Quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)

Thanks!

Which phone model are you considering?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Based on the bands you supplied, it matches with the Blackberry Passport unlocked device, is that correct? Unfortunately, it does not have CDMA support which is still required for Verizon. Therefore, even though it is unlocked and supports the Verizon LTE bands, it won't work since you must still have CDMA on Verizon's network for now.

Weth.... that is where the debate is falling. I have seen forum posts stating a simple SIM swap has worked for the unlocked Passport on VZ. I have the Z10 and looking to upgrade and I want to stay with VZ.. the Z30 is an option but it has the same specs.

It won't work. Even if you could trick it, the function would be severely limited.

Check the people that actually tried and failed.
