I've has issues like that as well. I went through multiple phones since my
last upgrade, each and every was defective. I almost cancelled back then,
but a very helpful tech support guy got me into my current phone. Every
other tech support person before and since has ignored my issues, only I
freeing to help me make a purchase to reaplce a working device that is
under a year old.
I'm in talks with Sprint right now, it is highly likely I'll get a free
Galaxy Nexus if I cancel vzw , and switch. The offer is very tempting, and
their service here is great.
Hope vzw fixes your issues and thanks for serving the country. If not, shop
around. There are a few carriers that would throw all kinds of concessions
your way for leaving vzw.

I was wondering one thing that some dont think of... Have you verified the computer you are having connecting issue also are you using the same pc every time?
Have you tried renewing the ip address of the pc to verify this isn't causing a lose of data packets that could cause a slow connection... This could be a possible factor that the slow connections follow multiple devices also there is even virus and malware for pcs that effects systems internet connection.
I am not saying that you are not correct but recently I have noticed users reporting that they are being throttled, there is several things that could cause a slow connection.... Have you ran a speed test directly from the device without connecting it to any pcs, what speeds are you getting?
I am sorry to hear that you are having these issue and dont misread my intentions, I am simply trying to help you find a solution.

Its my phone that is throttled, as I don't tether. My usual speed are
somewhere under 100 kilobits per second. Verizon 3g is capable of up to y
megabits per sscond, average in this area according to speetest.net is
about 1.2 megabits per second.
I've disabled data then turned it back on mulitple times. The results are
the same. My phone is throttled, by verizon's own admissiion. The refuse
to address the speed issues, all they have done its offered me tired data,
or to buy a 4g device. None of these are acceptable solutions.

Oh, OK I overlooked the part about you being on a 3G only device... The 3g devices contracts do cover optimizing but the 4g device do not cover this restriction.
I understand now where you are coming from and I am sorry to hear you are having so many issues but I can say that do to the nature of your contract, the best solution may be to look into a 4G device but I also acknowledge that the economy may not make this a workable solution.
Hopefully you can find a workable solution soon

You know, I'm not against the throttling, I'm against its selective
enforcement. I have friends over to my house, also in verizon 3g, uses
10GB data per month. He is not throttled, and if he is, it's certainly
faster than my less than 100 kb/second.
I've had days where I'm only on wifi, and my days usage goes up by 100MB or
more, it's kind of ridiculous.
The fact is, I'm being punished for using too much data, while other 3g
users get away with more.
On top of this, I have to use a third party text app, and third party
voicemail with call district, because verizon can't seen to get those
services working for me. I am there burning up days just to send and
receive text messages, and access voicemail. No matter what, I'm screwed,
and left holding the bag, and left with an unusable data connection. And
once again, vzw's solution is gir2 new to either buy a 4g device, or switch
to a tiered data plan. No thank you.

Problem solved. Going to sprint. I can't take anymore of the throttles, no
voicemail, and issues with text. Plus, I get a free Galaxy Nexus. Thanks
Verizon. Your lack of service got Sprint to step up, I can't wait until the
phone arrives, and I call to cancel.

We've also been screwed over by Verizon and unfortunately, have no other choices. We've had an aircard since December 2006 on an unlimited data plan. We started with a Rev 0 card and later upgraded to Rev A when available. Everything worked flawlessly for over 4 years until last year when they slid this "network optimization" garbage in without notifying us that our speed would be throttled. We don't have the option of cable, DSL or another carrier where we live. It took me weeks of being on the phone and going into the store until I was finally informed about the throttling. Our speed is limited to 1/4 of the speed we used to get (about .44 download). I relied on this internet service because I worked in the software development field and worked from home. Now with the throttling, the connection is too slow for it to even work for VPN. Transactions time out and the connection drops. The service is practically useless it's so slow now. I would drop them in a heart beat but I have no other options. We signed up for a 4G plan but that device couldn't stay connected and continually dropped my VPN connection so I finally gave up and payed the penalty to terminate that contract while keeping my old 3G unlimited plan and card. This is just not fair. If I had never had full 3G speed it would be different, but I had it for 4+ years and now it's almost useless. Since I have no other options, I have no choice but to move or rent an office space somewhere with high speed internet. Fed up.....

I cancelled this last week. Verizon kept asking what would keep me, if
there was anything they could do. Their offer was to have me buy another
phone, LOL.They then promised to call me back, that has yet to happen.
Then I got a text from "executive customer service", I decided to call
back, no reply. Honestly, I don't really care, I have Sprint with great
wimax and LTE where I live. No throttle, beautiful.
I talked to a guy I know whith Sprint, Verizon is bleeding customers to
them right now. Huge network upgrades in the works, too. Let's see if the
grass stays greener.
Good luck to all of you.
