I fully realize that Verizon has no intention of doing anything to meet the pricing models from T-Mobile, Sprint or AT&T and that my only recourse is to change providers, but what I didn't appreciate even more was the treatment I received today when I called to find out what my early termination amounts were. Instead of providing the answer I was asking for I instead was treated like an idiot for even considering leaving big red for another networks "inferior" network and service.  Even after I explained to the phone rep that I am a network engineer and actually have tested the upload and download speeds for the various networks she insisted I was mistaken.  Then I got to hear about all the theoretical speed capability of the 4G network (unless there really IS someone currently getting 300Mbs download) and how I must not be a good engineer to be considering changing. Then I was told that there really was no reason to escalate my call to anyone else since my mind was made up.  Then I was hung up on.

Gee, and I can't image why after 12 years of this I would EVER think of leaving to go to another company.

And the rude girl would hang up on you........

Being rude to someone because they are being rude to you is chidlish.

Good Luck with that theory

I had actually done the math, just wanted to double check my numbers.  The question started with, I think my ETF is $x, and it turned into why I shouldn't leave.

I wasn't rude, in fact I actually found myself apologizing for some reason even though I was the one being treated rudely.  And I also would never talk about what I make vs. what she makes.  At this point I am just glad every day I have a job!

Its a shame that this happened and its always good to double check your numbers with the source.  Too bad in this case you got a rude angry CS Rep and then the first response to your vent to the community was equally rude and condescending

Who knows why they were rude. Maybe the previous 10 callers were all rude jerks and the CS took it out on you. I suspect the vast majority of their calls are negative in nature. No one calls CS just to say "Hey you're doing a great job have a nice day" (removed)

I will says this if you look at the ranking for customer service, as bad as Verizon may be they rank the best of all the 4 carriers. So just a word of warning to not expect anything different from any other carrier.

I absolutely despise calling phone support.  That is why today I went into a corporate owned store.....Only to have a sales guy tell me what I could get, what I could upgrade, and get the best deal (1 hour of my time with my 11 month old in the stroller), then have him come back to me, instead of with my phones and tablet, with an "I'm sorry, my manager won't let me give you these promotions".  I tried talking to the manager (While the sales guy went off to spin some more yarn to another couple), but the managers reply was, so sorry, our sales representative was misinformed.

I have been with Verizon for 8 years, and well might be time for a change.

My point is, apparently I was wrong, and the walk in stores are no better than the phone operators!!!!
