So if HD Voice and Advance Calling a Win/Win, why is it being pushed out to be automaticly implimented?

So I deal with a lot of people that don't know much about Advanced Calling/HD Voice. How come there's not much push for the service? Why isn't it being automatically added AND automatically switched on?

Mainly because it only works in 4G coverage areas and both devices have to be IN a 4G coverage area in order for it to work. As soon as one of the devices loose the 4G coverage the call drops. Verizons 4G coverage is big and covers a lot of area, but not not enough to FORCE it onto everyone. Not to mention the advanced calling is not compatible with network extenders.

I turned it on my Nexus 6.

It reduced signal strength on all calls, and I began to have frequent call loss issues.

I finally took my phone into the Verizon store, after online tech support could not diagnose the issue.

In the store, they were surprised that I didn't know that advanced calling reduced signal strength by 50%.

I was showing 1 bar of service inside the store.  The display model Nexus 6 showed full bars.  They had me turn off Advanced Calling, and my phone showed full bars.

AC doesn't reduce call signal that much. He was feeding you FUD.

I noticed call stability was reduced, quality was great (when talking to another AC user) and I experienced missed calls and such.  I disabled AC for my phone.

The signal bars from my understanding is for voice while there is not actual bars for data. When you turn on AC on then your voice call signal will be the same as your data signal. If strong data areas you will not see any changes. let me see if I can find the write up from Google development teams. It was like a few years back.

I actually looked at both dbm and bars.  I was able to reproduce a significant reduction in signal strength when AC is on, and I was unable to hold conversations on either AC or regular calls that didn't break up or terminate completely when this feature was on.

I was surprised that the Verizon store, and now level 2 tech support have both told me that Advanced Calling decreases signal strength for non-AC calls, and both recommended disabling this feature.

Funny, they used to tell me to turn it on to maintain a call connection, then after I complained about worse signal, told me to turn it back off.

On my G2, the data indicator is LTE or 3G, the bars represent the data.

I am talking specifically Nexus devices. The signal was setup differently than conventionally done.
