Service Change Question

Hi. Both my wife and I have flip phones through Verizon. I think we may be the last two on the planet with them, so we're thinking about upgrading to smartphones. If we want to use web, we have computers. We would be using text, video and picture messaging primarily. Can someone suggest the least expensive way to do this. We don't want to pay for services we won't use, but we'd like to have the features of a smartphone. When we try to talk to a Verizon Rep, we feel their intention is to sell us as much as possible. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No, it would be $40 for the shared data and $40 each for the phones. Total = $120 + taxes and fees for both phones.

It sounds like you are wanting smart phones without a data plan on them. Verizon (any major carrier for that matter) won't let you do this.

No, I assumed you needed to have a data plan. I was just wondering if there are cheaper ones without all the bells and whistles.

Well, your best option would most likely be the Share Everything plan, then, with the lowest data tier which is 1 GB. Just make sure you have the settings on your new smartphones such that you will minimize background data usage and maximize your wifi usage.

Do you have a wifi router in your home. Make sure you have your phones set to auto-connect whenever you are at home. Set the settings in any app you may install or is already installed so that they sync less frequently and do all of your downloading/updating while connected to wifi.

My mistake, looks like there is now a 500 MB data tier for the Share Everything plan, starting at $40/month for the data portion of your bill, then $40/line for the access fee.

So, that would be a total of $80 per phone per month?
