So just like the title say i'm trying to port forward a mobile hotspot i'm using for internet from my phone. I have a Kyocera Duraforce Pro with the Verizon family plan and I use my mobile hotspot for doing things on my computer and I have been trying to host a game (Rust) server and in order for other to connect I need to port forward and I can't because all the videos about it says to go to the default gateway (192.168.1.1) and login to add port forward settings but when I do I get error
This site can’t be reached
192.168.1.1 refused to connect.
Try:
- Checking the connection
- Checking the proxy and the firewall
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED
and I don't want to buy internet because the only option where I live is mainly CenturyLink and they're not that reliable so I really hope someone can help me with this.

You are hitting the NAT firewall issue that all Verizon Wireless devices are behind unless you have a device that is assigned a public IP address or if you have purchased a public IP address for $500 from Verizon Wireless. CenturyLink would be much more reliable than cellular internet and you would have access to a public IP address.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

The IP address you're trying to connect to is private (all of the ones in the 192+ range are).

I appreciate you relying on Verizon Wireless service for all your needs, DARWING500. Port forwarding is an advanced network feature that is not supported through the Mobile Hotspot on a smartphone due to the restrictions of the gateway you mentioned. Unless you purchase a private IP address, your device will be assigned a public IP by default. Port Forwarding is, however, offered on select data devices such as the Smart Hub https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-212066/ and our LTE Installed Internet https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-53181/ . If you’d be interested in adding a line to your account for a dedicated data service, please visit www.vzw.com/addaline or call our Sales Professionals at 800-256-4646.

He has to purchase a public facing static IP address otherwise his device is assigned a non-routable reserved IP address which places a firewall that Verizon controls between his device and the internet.
