Phone insurance - Don't get suckered into letting them sell you this!

I was suckered into buying their phone insurance for my Droid for an extra $6.99 per month. I am a professional and depend on my phone for business. When my Bluetooth function failed, I then found out that the insurance is ONLY FOR physical damage to the phone. The insurance does NOT cover the phone at all if the electronics or battery fails, just physical damage. This was NOT told to me of course. I was told my home would be covered if something happened to it (you read into that!)  In the end though, the electonics are only covered under the WARRANTY, not the INSURANCE (do you get it now?).  You only find out the bad news when something goes wrong with your phone and you find out the WARRANTY expired (even though you'ver been paying insurance for several years!  Well, had I known that the WARRANTY covered the phone internals I never would have bought the INSURANCE. Here's my gripe: EXPLAIN THIS TO PEOPLE AT THE COUNTER! Let them know exactly what they are getting for their extra $6,99 per month! But alas, they never do this. You just wind up falling into another one of their money traps until you get wise, then they only say "gee, sorry!". Don't buy their insurance unless you think you might phyiscally break your phone. It's just another one of Verizaon's many money scams!

Well, someone somewhere is confused. The $6.99 feature provides a combination of insurance and the extended warranty, meaning that you are fully covered for anything on this phone. So either you don't have the $6.99 feature, or the rep you spoke to is an idiot. Either seems likely

I did have the $6,99 insurance as they confirmed that today --  I promptly cancelled it -- The extended warranrty expired last month (right before my bluetooth function failed) and was for exactly 2 years from the time I bought the phone. The insurance was still in effect however. I was paying $6.99 per month for that. When I brought in the phone and they tested the bluetooth function, they told me there was nothing they could do since the phone was out of warranty (expired in April). "Wait a minute" I said, "I have the phone under insurance".  The reply was "oh sorry, that only covers physical damage to the phone, not if anything goes wrong with it like the battery or any of the functions". "That was under the warranty and that expired last month". I was NEVER told that the insurance only covers physical damage when they got me to order it, nor did anyone bother to call me a coule of months ago and inform me that a warranty on the phone was about to expire! I was under the impression when I bought the insurance that I was buying a complete warranty that would cover my phone for any eventuality. Nope, guess again!

Yeah, I know. I thought about that but I'm not dishonest and truely thought the phone would be covered, since I was paying insurance every month. I understand TOS, but really? They can't explain this to you in the store? You have to read the fine print? Really sad, but that's Verizon for you! They will bill you first and explain things later after you find out you've been left hanging.
