No signal strength. dropped calls

I live in a neighborhood with a fair amount of trees.  During winter we (5cell phones in the family 4-iphone 1-android ) get a couple bars and have chopped up conversations.  Once spring comes we have no reception unless we walk out in the back yard.

The closest intersection is Becher  and National  in West Allis.  53227.

I  don't  think  I  should have to purchase a booster.  I  would  switch carriers first.  Our neighbors have AT&T and have good reception.

I want you to have the best wireless service possible kad2010! While my system does not show any alerts for your area, foliage can certainly impact service and structural interference definitely play a big roll for indoor service. You mentioned a booster in your post, are you referring to a http://vz.to/1jMR0HT Network Extender? We normally recommend this device upon recommendation from our network team. Have we submitted a resolution ticket to our network team for you? If this is the case, please provide the NRB ticket and we'll follow up on the result of the ticket.

No I have not placed a ticket. I  do not want to purchase a signal Booster.  I would  rather let my contract run out and switch unless Verizon is willing to  supply the booster.

Why would our neighbors be fine for signal  from AT&T through more foliage than we have?  That leads me to  believe this is a signal issue from Verizon.

What are my next steps?

Distance of tower in relation to signal frequencies. There's more involved than meets the eye.

kad2010,

We definitely want to make sure you get the very best service. A lot can go into whether foliage causes issues such as how far you are from the tower, the direction of the tower, how busy your area is, but we want to make sure everything has been done that can be. Do you get good service as soon as you step outside? Does the phone work well most places other than your home?

I get reception 2 bars in my backyard outside which is where I have to go if I get a call so it doesn't drop.  (Not convenient during rain)  When calling from the front yard and in the house it flips back and forth  from 1 bar to extended network which isn't usually enough to call without it dropping.  I don't have problems anywhere else such as at work or out and about.  It is only a home and while our trees have leaves.winter I get 2 bars inside.  We live in a suburb of Milwaukee.   We don't live in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks for your help!

I definitely sounds like a signal issue Kad2010. Let's look into this. What device do you have? When did this issue start?

Call into tech support and have an NRB ticket filed. You will have to go through some troubleshooting to make sure that its not the device . Give it 2 or 3 business days for the ticket to get investigated and closed. if you do not hear back (the department in charge of calling you after the ticket is closed is small) If the ticket comes back as "marginal coverage" then you can be released from the contract with no early termination fees.
