No considerations for the Military???

Let’s title this Verizon Betrays the Military!

We’ve been loyal Verizon customers for well over 10 years and after what has happened over the last 2 weeks I highly doubt we’ll remain with Verizon after this contract is up! Just spent close to $1,000 dollars on 3 new phones and before upgrading was promised by 2 different Verizon customer reps on the phone that our unlimited data plans would remain in effect. Well that was a blatant lie as those were stripped away! Next, our son, that’s in the military finally received his phone, had it operational for less than a week before it malfunctioned and because it was a day or two past their 14 day policy refuses to send a new phone, but will instead send a refurbished one! Everyone knows it takes a little extra time for the military to receive mail, but does Verizon care….NO! Even though the problem started before the 14 days were up, they will allow No extra day to help a soldier out that just bought a brand new phone! NO consideration and not an extra minute for this situation! That’s just fine Verizon as we will let everyone we know and our local news just how you handle the Army! Oh and I forgot to mention, we’ll also spread the story to the dozens of sites/forums/boards that are a part of our extended military family! I will give you the same 14 days to correct the situation. So just to clarify: OUR SOLDIER WILL MAKE A STAND FOR YOU, BUT YOU REFUSE TO STAND UP FOR HIM?!?!? Nice patriotism Verizon <insert sarcasm>! Hooah!

I'm sorry, you have got to be kidding me.... Saying this is how Verizon treats the Army?!? It's ridiculous, because this is the policy for all customer's.

Wireless Device/Accessory Return Policy

You may return or exchange wireless devices and accessories purchased from Verizon Wireless within 14 days of purchase. A restocking fee of $35 ($70 for netbooks and tablets) applies to any return or exchange of a wireless device (excluding Hawaii).

This return and exchange policy does not apply to customers who have purchased a Prepaid Plan.

Exchange New Merchandise

You are permitted to make one exchange. To make an exchange, return the merchandise (including device, charger, battery, instructions, and any other components) in the ORIGINAL box. All merchandise must be in like–new condition and accompanied by the original receipt. Shipping charges may apply to exchange merchandise sent to you by Verizon Wireless.

Even if Verizon provided preferential treatment to Army, how would they know he's really in the army unless he went into a store and used his ID and proved it? They won't, since the account, I'm guessing, is in someone else's name. Verizon does not treat the military bad, you just want them to make an exception for you because you think you have earned it because you have a son fighting for our country. Now don't think I'm bashing, because I'm not. I respect the military. I just think expecting treatment above and beyond is ridiculous.

14 days is 14 days. Did you call during the first 14 days with the issue? If not, then there is no way to get a return. You should have read your contract and returned it before your time was up.

Obviously you know nothing about the military. Mailing items take more time

in the military. Getting a pass to go to a mailing depot takes time. Using

your device sometimes require permission. You have no concept of what is

required of our soldiers and until you do, move on!

That is NOT and never was the point. The point was policy. If a company makes exceptions for some, they will have to make exceptions for all. So that's why there is a no exceptions part. 14 days from purchase. Plain and simple. I understand mail takes a little longer, but that's not up to Verizon Wireless. They have no control over that. And it's virtually impossible to make an exception for one address.

It goes back to what I said, just because that phone went to someone in the military, doesn't imply entitlement. If you were within the 14 when the issues started happening, it was you and your sons responsibility to call customer service and get started then so there is documentation of the issues. That way, a return in the 14 days would have been warranted.

Verizon can make an exception for military. It's what they should do. Your comment how if verizon makes an exception for some will have to make for all is a joke. You must not like the military.

I think level headed people will understand an exception for military personnel. Apparently you don't. Verizon needs to make this right. Plain and simple.

Kbrant, tell your son I thank him for his service to our country. God bless you and your son.

It goes both ways. I believe they should give the exception for the military. And if they don't give discounts I believe they should. I don't necessarily agree with everything the military does but I will back them up. However, they already agreed to the 14 day rule, they can't try and switch something they already agreed to. If you went to a car dealership and bought a car, they told you that you had 30 days to return it and you were trying to return it on day 33, do you really think they would say yes and bring you another brand new car? Or would they not since you agreed to the 30 day rule? They already agreed to 14 days and it was past 14 days so Verizon is just filling the obligation made to you by enforcing the rules you agreed to. But Verizon really does need to realize it and give the members of the military an extra week or so.

Thank you dubenezic92<https://community.verizonwireless.com/people/dubenezic92>

for

your input and seeing the big picture! I will let my son know what you

said. People like

androiduser123<https://community.verizonwireless.com/people/androiduser123>

have

no concept of what the military go through and there should be exceptions

to the rule. It's not like these soldiers can pick up a phone at a drop of

a hat! The a fore mentioned person should quit trolling the forums and get

back to punching the time clock at Verizon. Better yet, maybe he should

sign up for service to this country and then after he walked a mile in

their boots, he can open up his mouth. Smh
