Message below was included w/my current bill. What exactly does this mean? Does this mean I no longer need insurance for my phone?

What it means is if your phone becomes defective, damaged, lost/stolen after the one year manufacturer's warranty has expired, you will be able to purchase a Certified Pre-Owned device. That has nothing to do with current insurance you have on your account.

It seems tho that I would no longer need insurance on my phone. With the insurance if phone is lost, stolen, broken I have to pay $50 to get a phone. So why not cancel the insurance and if any of the above happens, just buy the cert pre-owned phone? Essentially the same thing?
