My daughter is 11 and doesn't use her phone. Can I take it off my plan?

My daughter will be going to school with me this year and she will not be needing a phone.  It cost $30 a month for the basic phone, plus taxes.  Is there any way I can take it off the plan? She's only had the phone for a month and a half. Also, I am supposed to get a teacher discount and don't think I have been getting it.

I tried "chatting" with a rep, but they said they've been busy for an hour now...

Thanks,

Courtney

If you purchased a phone for her and added a new line to your account a month and a half ago, I assume you signed a 2 yr contract.

For a basic phone, the ETF(Early Termination Fee) would be $175 with $5 taken off for each month of your contract you complete. Since you only got the phone a month and a half ago, the ETF would currently be $170.

Bottom line, you can take the phone off the plan but you will be charged a $170 ETF.

Go to http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/employee/emaildomainauthentication.jsp?gclid=COrW6uPJirkCFWxyQgod... and enter your work email (school district email).  It should be recognized as a public employees (state) email address and the discount should take effect immediately after you confirm the email address is yours by clicking a link in an email sent to your work address.

if you are getting the discount, it will show when you log in to your account in the billing section.

Hi Courtdoit,

Congrats on your daughter going to school! I know how important it is to make sure that you are getting the best value for your services. If your daughter's line is currently under contract, then there would be an Early Termination fee to cancel the line. You can check her contract end date here http://bit.ly/xB4iTc . To verify and setup your employer discount click here http://vz.to/xBsmT . Have a great day!
