More Everything plan a scam?

Is the "More Everything" plan just another example of bait and switch/false advertising? I can't get a clear answer out of anybody at Verizon as to what the cost will be. Is it $140 or really $240/mo? What I want to do is to buy in full four iPhone 6's to use with the plan and not pay a monthly payment other than the talk/text/data/taxes. I have had answers all up and down the scale leading me to believe that this is either a scam, the reps really don't know and they are saying anything to get a commitment, or both. Can somebody please tell me what I will pay per month other than taxes - is it $140/mo or $240/mo, or something else? Many thanks!!!

Follow the terms of the ad. $140 requires phones on Edge or no contract. $240 is with a contract

If you plan to "pay in full", i.e. full retail cost starting at $649/phone, for 4 iPhone 6's with a total combined cost of $2600 then the following will be your cost.

Line access fee for 4 phones will be $40/phone for a total of $160.

You then have to add on a monthly amount of shared data, I would suggest at least 10GB to start which currently runs $80/month.

As a result of your 10 GB data allowance, you are eligible to receive a $25/line discount on your line access fees for a total of $100/month discount. This discount has to be added manually in your MyVerizon account under "Change Features". It will be either the 1st or 2nd option in the list at the top of the page and will have a red box to activate the discount. You will need to do this for each line separately.

So, the bottom line for your cost will be $160 + $80 - $100 = $140.

Of course any taxes/fees/insurance/additional features will be additional.

I am since you are doing this at the beginning of your service, I am unsure how this will affect your first bill as I have only added these discounts as my contracts ended. The discount was effective at the start of the next billing cycle. Since you will already be in a billing cycle when you add the discount, you may have a partial months service without the discounts and a full month with the discounts.

Keep in mind, when adding the discounts the dialogue tells you it may take a billing cycle or so before the discount is added. In my experience, it has always become effective the start of the first billing cycle after adding the discount.

Hope this helps.

Of course if you choose a data allowance below 10 GB, then the line access fee discount/phone would only be $15 for a total of $60 line access fee discount instead of $100.

As an example of the discount, I am currently paying $168/month, including taxes/fees,  for 4 smartphone lines with a 10 GB data allowance. I have 3 smartphones out of contract and 1 under contract so I am only receiving a total discount of $75 on line access fees, but I also have a discount on my data allowance due to my employer.

Thanks for the replies!

From what I gather, Edge is their scheme to try to keep people roped into a contract by offering new phones every so often. Since I want to buy the phones, I should not have to bother with any Edge malarky.

I also have two iPhone 4s's that are not under contract and are in great condition. I have been told I can use them with the More Everything plan. Is this true? If so, I will only have to buy two new iPhones.

Thanks again!

Thanks but their explanation is not very clear as to what the true charges will be. Again, I think this is the nature of the mobile device business - to be as confusing as possible so nobody really knows for sure what they are paying for. It is a very shady industry anyway. I have been working with devices and companies for years and I am still confused and can't get a straight answer most of the time. They change the rules as they go and don't tell anybody.

Edge is no different than purchasing the phones in full up front, except that the cost is spread out over 24 equal payments. There is no different in cost and you do not have to manually add the discount, it is added automatically, unlike if you purchase the phone up front. Since the month to month discount is not advertised very well, it is very likely MANY people who purchase a phone in full up front do not actually receive the discount as they don't realize it is available while ALL Edge customers receive said discount. It is not a scheme, but simply a financing choice, just like financing any large purchase thru any retailer.

As long as they are Verizon iPhone 4S's, you should be good to go. iPhones from other service providers will do you no good.

Yes, i have Verizon iPhones. I have been with Verizon for about five years since the alternatives were flaky at best.

So what you are saying is that if I want to buy the phones up front I need to make sure I still get the discount which really would total $140 plus tax?

Sorry to keep asking such redundant questions, but I currently have the unlimited data plan for two of my phones and while I rarely use a total of 3gb, it is difficult to give up. If I go for it and lose the unlimited, I want to be extra sure this is what I need and it will work for me.

No, I did not say you need to make sure you still get the discount, I said you have to manually add it yourself in the "Change Features" section of the account owner's MyVerizon account. The discount has to be added manually for each line individually. If you do not go in and manually add the discount, you will not get it.

As I also stated, I am paying a $168(taxes included) monthly bill for 4 smartphones with 10 GB of shared data after manually adding the discount for the 3 lines on my account currently out of contract. So yes, if you have 4 smartphone lines out of contract and a 10 GB data allowance, you CAN get a monthly bill of $140 + tax/fees/other features.
