Lowering Bill

My husband and I both currently have smartphones. We are looking to save money and need to down grade. We are both going to go with basic phones but don't want the MORE Everything plan because we will not be using the data also I think it is crazy that you have to pay $30 for a basic phone on that plan. All we will need is text and minutes. What are our options? Our current contracts do not end until 05/2016 and we do not want to add additional lines. Honestly, we think it would be better to cancel and go the prepaid route.

Thanks,

With basic phones you didn't used to have a data allowance on More Everything. It appears you now have to have a minimum 500 MB monthly allowance for $20.

The basic phone line access fee is currently $20/month, not $30.

2 basic phones on More Everything with unlimited talk/text and 500 MB of data/month would be $60/month + taxes/fees.

You would have to purchase either used basic phones, use some you already had OR purchase some at full retail cost if you are currently under contract on your 2 lines until 5/2016.

Basic phones available on Verizon's website run from $50 to $200. You could also try a site such as swappa.com for a used phone.
