hi everyone,
I bought my droid razr maxx from ebay. (brand new) and since I knew it's global ready after android 4 update I directly brought to Iran to use it for the period of my stay there. I inserted my non-verizon sim card and it worked for 1 week. I mean I was able to make calls with it for 1 week using a non-verizon sim. One night I took out the sim card and the day after i reinserted it but since then it's showing the "A SIM card is needed to operate this phone. Please turn off your phone and insert your SIM card" error.
I sent it to Motorola for repair and they sent it back saying no functional faults were found. Is there any possibility that Verizon has locked it? Why? Should I have activated it on Verizon before using it? I mean is it global ready after popping in a Verizon SIM and having it for like 15 days or so?
thanx

Hello vala,
Thank you so much for reaching out to us from Iran! I apologize for any inconvenience however we are unable to support a 3rd party SIM being used in the device.
Thank you,
