And no one called me saying there were lines added and was fraud, I got an email one day from Verizon saying thank you for your purchase, and another thank you for upgrading your plan!  Of which I did NEITHER.  I called customer service, they connected me to fraud dept, who did determine IT WAS FRAUD.

And, it sounds like your saying you do not believe me.  Wow,  Why would I lie and put myself thru all of this?  I don't think anyone on this forum wants to go thru it, it's hell. Have you ever looked at your My Verizon and seen a phone attached to your account that was not yours, and had your phone cut off  and find out it was  due to Verizon allowing someone else to hack into your account and add a phone ?  Been a loyal Verizon customer for 15 years.  I have to deal with my mother, recently had to put in nursing home, and sister, disabled in foster home.  I don't need Verizon [Removed].  I have so much going on in my life I cant take this..

The sob story was not necessary. Having said that the rep did due diligence with the account. And for the record theres all kinds of "inside jobs" with these new phones especially iPhones. That part is not your fault.

The problem with a Best Buy or premium retailer is that anyone with the any telephone number on the account as well as the last 4 of the SSN or billing password can get access at one of these places. They don't check ID which is done at a corporate store.

Well I don't think they had my last 4 of the SSN, or billing password. I

was told by a customer service rep that someone added an account manager to

my account, then they can bypass all those checks. They then reset my billing

password, and changed my address. The odd thing was that this person did

not use my credit card, and their credit card was declined. Not sure how

the purchase was even allowed. I have a copy of the receipt from best

buy. I should really follow up with them, but was hoping Verizon fraud

would, but they did not. And worse yet, since the purchase of the iPhone

was declined, my payment plan just recently changed to a buyout. My bill

was $813.00. I was horrified, since supposedly the fraud department

untangled me from this transaction. Their response was, well this takes

time to resolve itself. Not a good answer! Thats why I am so upset .

It may never end.

Then you should do as I suggested to the original poster. Make sure that your computer is clean from any viruses and malware.

I believe a little paranoia is healthy.  And in my case, all my lines are upgrade eligible, so I change my PIN number immediately after I use it in a store.  Ive changed it 3 times this year so far.

LOL   But smart.

I have 2 step authentication on all my email.

And I change passwords on my bank account once a year.
