I recently ported my number to Verizon, but the SMS to email gateway doesn't recognize it

I ported my phone number into Verizon but when people try to send an email to thenumber@vtext.com they get a bounce stating:
Error: Invalid user address
Error message below:
550 - Requested action not taken: no such user here
Message details:

How "recently"? It can take 24-48 hours, and sometimes even longer, for the port to fully complete and for all services to be functional.
