I moved to a new place and now my voice service and data (3g and 4g) are almost non-existent even though the coverage map shows full coverage all around me.

We just moved to a new house and immediately noticed our cell phone coverage is poor to non existent. According to the coverage map we should have no problems with voice, 3g, and 4g. Voice coverage is very spotty and 3g data is very weak and 4g isn't even there. I noticed I do not have missed call notifications anymore either. I have a HTC one M8 and she has a Droid Turbo 2 and both phones are acting the same. My location is Iowa Park, TX 76367.

Let’s take a closer look into the issue with the service at the new residence, Moff701. Do you notice these issues only when inside or is it both inside and outside as well? Are you getting any error messages with calls, texts, or data use? If so, can you advise? Thanks in advance.

When inside and I try to call someone it takes about 1 full minute for it to actually start ringing, and when they pick up they are choppy and sound distant. When outside the performance of the call is better as in I can hear them like normal but sometimes they are still choppy. This is the experience on both phones when placing calls. Text messaging seems to be working fine. Not sure if texts are sent and received in a timely manner but there isn't any complaints. Data is horrible on 3g, slow and unresponsive, and 4g does not exist. Neither phone ever registers a 4g signal. On both phones we do not receive missed call notifications either. If they do not leave a voicemail we would never know they called.

Gosh, that sounds terrible, moff701. With such a long time to connect calls, I can see why you would want to get this resolved. You’ve mentioned that it improves once outside. That is a strong indicator that the construction of the home (either the materials used in building or the sound structure) is such that it may well be preventing signal penetration. While there won’t be a solution for the construction of the home, I would like to know how far outside the home you need to walk before service becomes available again. Can you share that with me?

The voice service works inside the house, it just takes a lot longer to actually start ringing and then the person I call sounds distant and choppy. Outside is better but still choppy. I never paid attention to how far away from the house I was or how close to other structures. When trying to use data in the house sometimes 3g will work and sometimes not. When 3g does work its very slow and unresponsive. Outside 3g sometimes gets 2 bars but doesn't seem any faster. We never get 4g inside or outside.

I am sure we will get to the bottom of this moff701.What is the make/model of your device? Does anyone else experience your issues?

Verizon's coverage map for LTE is pretty vague. Check to see if OpenSignal or CellMapper have any data for your location, and see what sort of results have appeared for the community members who mapped the network.

http://cellmapper.net/map

http://opensignal.com

If you can, run CellMapper/OpenSignal on either phone to map it for the community as you drive around for a day or two. This will help show the actual signal compared to what Verizon's public coverage maps show.

Also, if you have a corporate store nearby, ask to see their internal coverage maps. They are far more reliable and reflective of the actual experience.

Or www.sensorly.com for another crowd sourced map of various carriers.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Unfortunately, the maps provided by carriers are not all that reliable, except for Sprint . . . .go figure.

You will need to look into a 3g/4g signal booster (not a "Network Extender") if you want to stay with Verizon or look into another carrier that has towers closer to your new residence. Sounds like you shouldn't have a problem with 3g, but you may want to check to see if you get a satisfactory 4g signal in the attic or on the roof before considering a booster.

Since moving, have you removed and then re-inserted the SIM cards for your phones and restarted / rebooted the phone?  This will re-establish the network connection.  Be sure the phones are set to the LTE/CDMA  network also.
