You have to pay off the Edge Contract. Do you think you would have saved more by doing a 2-year contract? I'll crunch numbers for you if you provide me with:
What data plan do you have? How many GB?
Do you have any other phone lines on your account? Smart phone or basic phone? 2 year contract, edge or no contract?

You can't switch. You can pay off your Edge agreement.

IF you used Edge to finance the phone, you can pay it off at any time. You can't switch to a 2 year contract.
FYI, you end up paying the same amount either way. 2 year contract requires a huge down payment and you lose the monthly line discount.
Once the phone is paid off, you can continue service at the lower rate by calling customer service and requesting the out of contract rate. The phone is unlocked and can then be used on another carrier if you like.

If you switch to the 6GB data plan that $15 discount on the line access fee turns into $25 discount on the line access fee.

How do you have 5GB of data? Are you paying for 4GB and getting a promotion of 1 extra?

Wait, Edge or no Edge?
Edge is the financing program to purchase phones. Contracts require huge down payment ($299-499). Edge requires only tax up front. Which way did you pay for the iphone?

There is no 5 GB plan, please clarify.
The statement "basic phones, no edge" doesn't make sense, please explain what you mean.
