How do I change from a 3g service to 4g preowned phone?

I bought my daughter a preowned 4g phone to replace her dying 3g phone. I don't know how to change the phone number attached to the 4g card to hers. If I buy a new card and reset the phone to factory standards will that work, or is it easier to change the number on the current card? Also, she can keep her unlimited data plan by activating this phone, correct?

You'll need a new SIM card for the phone; they are free at your local Corporate Verizon store.  Activating the phone shouldn't affect your current plan since you're 'bringing your own phone'.
