Free VZNAVIGATOR....

For some time i  have used VZNAVIGATOR sparingly (one day here and there) to avoid any more additional monthly charges for the service.  I really like the VZNAVIGATOR and i think it provides a very useful service.  Though, now, the smartphones are able to access free Google Mobile services and others on a continuous basis, without the monthly charges, i think Verizon would capture a larger market share by providing their VZNAVIGATOR for free to Verizon Wireless customers.  They would be using data and minutes, but not have to pay monthly fees to have it available.

My ROGUE doesn't have the option as many of the VW phones do not, to use online GPS maps from other vendors.  The corner on the market is disappearing...Verizon, what is your next move?

I think what the original poster meant to say is that smartphones like the droid, you pay for data but you also get navigation for free, as to where the other smartphones that require data plan do not have that option available for free.

Droid has the google navigation free because its a google designed product which the Eris will have after 2.0 update.  V Cast phones can't run google so the only way to do that is paying for vznavigator.  But seriously if gps is really important, its better buy a tomtom or garmin device because long run paying $10/month for VZNavigator is not worth it.  It's only for use sometimes when needed and pay the $3/day.
