Same here. I have been with verizon for about 12 years and was actually going to order the galaxy111, but decided against it when they wanted to charge me 30 dollars for the honor of extending my contract with them. What makes it worse. I have a couple of friends that only paid 149.99 for the phone and have only been with verizon for a couple of years. I guess I will look for another option.

Your friends went to a 3rd party retailer not Verizon...
Your friends have to get a data plan...
You could go to the same 3rd party retailer and pay their price...

the $30 isnt for the honor of doing business with you, it is because you paid 200 bucks for a 650 device

Top it off all carriers charge more for the same thing. Also your friends will be charged the same when they renew.

Hi vsa,
I understand your discontent regarding the upgrade fee and the deals your friends were able to get. You are a valued customer and we thank you for your loyalty.
Did you know that as of June 28, 2012 our calling plan options will change? Visit this link http://goo.gl/3UFqV for details. I mention this change because as a valued customer you can upgrade at a discount (if currently eligible) by June 27, 2012 and keep your current calling plan (even unlimited data if you have it); however, if you choose to upgrade on or after June 28, 2012, keeping your current plan with a discounted upgrade will not be an option. I trust that you will take advantage of this information and process your upgrade soon. See how to upgrade online at:

There are a few things here the price of the S3 is 199.99 + 30.00 upgrade fee if you choose to use an upgrade. Other customers may have had a new every two promotion still left on their account or went to a 3rd party retailer to get that phone for 149.99. Smart phones do require a data pack of some type, I doubt you contacted the CEO about that.
