Edge plan after device is paid off

So, i have talked to various sales and CS reps at VZW (via chat and phone) and keep getting conflicting info.

Here's my question:

If I am on the Edge plan and pay off my device at 24months, do I own the phone? Or would i need to trade it in?

One agent told me if i paid it off and went on another Edge plan, then i would need to turn in device.

If I paid it off BUT signed up for 2 year contract OR paid full retail, then i can keep the old device formerly on Edge.

So which one is it? do i own it no matter what?

With either scenario, once you pay off the phone, it is yours to keep.Smiley Happy

Absolutely correct! Once the phone is paid for, it's yours. Take all 24 months: YOURS.  Pay it off early: YOURS.

Whether you get a 2-year contract or start another EDGE contract after paying it off.  It's yours.

If you are going to Edge Up (get a new Edge phone early), and want to keep your current phone, be sure to pay the phone off first THEN Edge Up.  If you don't pay it off first, you will have to give it back.

Technically, you "Edge Up" if you purchase another Edge phone WITHOUT paying off the Edge balance. So no, you would not be able to keep a phone if you "Edge Up".

rcschnoor, I'll give you that one. I guess it's technically not an Edge Up if you pay the phone off before the 2-year mark to get another.
