My iPhone that I've had since October of 2013 is hardly working anymore, my upgrade is due the 20 of October. Is there any possible way of me being able to upgrade early or will i still have to wait till next month?

You will have to wait.
The good thing is that making an appointment and visiting an Apple store may be fruitful and help you get through to your upgrade. They won't replace it or upgrade you but they may help it work better.
