Hello, my girlfriend is currently in Montreal, Canada and I am in the US. We have been texting and talking some. We are both Verizon customers with U.S. phones and unlimited texting. Will it cost either of us additional money to text or call each other while she is in Canada?

For the caller from the US there are not any add'l charges. However the person in Canada will incur add'l charges.

Texting will cost nothing both ways, calls will cost you nothing, cost her $.69/min (ROAMING)

HOWEVER: if you both have iphones, make her turn OFF imessage, or it will send those texts as DATA instead of SMS, which will cost $2.05/MB.


All of those are assuming you're on a regular US-only plan, of course.
