You have the option to pay full price ,you have the option to get a disounted phone and lose unlimited. You also have the option to get a cell with another service. There you go. 3 options right there

Something you all need to think about . Just reading a news story about how the networks did with the damage from the storm out east . Most of verizons towers that were not directly damaged by the storm were up and running .a lot of art, Sprint and tmobil towers were down because of no power. Why are verizons towers up, because they spent the m obey to install back up power sources. That takes money . Think about it.

The New Every Two program was never a part of the contract and was retired on January 16, 2011.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Yorkyrebel, that $199 price still represents a discount of around $300 off of the phone's full price.

Good point, iowaman.
Everyone that's considering switching carriers needs to consider what they're going to get for their money. I came to VZ from T-Mob and am far happier service-wise. Heck, even heading down to the Las Vegas strip and sitting in a casino would render my T-Mob phone unusable. Using the 4G when out of town was also a nightmare reception-wise and trying to use the HotSpot feature was pretty pointless. My husband's former employer used AT&T and reception was a nightmare for him too. Neither of us have these issues with VZ (though my husbands Droid is kinda bad, but it's the phone not the carrier).
Another thing they need to consider is how long before the other carriers follow suit? I'm willing to bet it won't be long. More than likely, they'll wait for this storm to be over and for all irate customers to blow their way before whacking them around the ears with the same kind of plans.

This thread is about the new "Share Everything Plan," not the price of subsidized phones. On the other hand, paying $200 or $300 for a $650 phone is a good deal to me. They don't reduce the monthly price at the end of 2 years because there is no reason they should. It's your price of staying with Verizon. You can leave if you think the price is too high. This also creates an incentive for people to upgrade their phones and sign a new contract. It's very smart business on the part of Verizon.
And enough already with the "I have been a loyal customer for x years." Cell phones are not about loyality. They are a commodity product that we buy based on price and service, just like cable TV. Anyone here would switch providers at the drop of a hat to save a few dollars or get the phone or service they want or need. Every month you pay for a month's worth of service and you get a month's worth of service in return. Verizon owes you nothing beyond meeting the remaining terms of your 2-year contract.
