Auggg!   I have been looking at the website for the past few days because I got a postcard in the mail telling me I could keep my current calling plan when I upgraded to any smartphone.  I currently have an old LG Alltell phone and a great Alltell calling plan of 3000 minutes for  about  $45.00 a month.  I was hoping to add the $10 texting and the 2 GB for data.  I think it was less than this Share Everything plan.  I have my land line and internet with AT&T..  Decisions, decisions.  I  wish I knew what to do.  Has anyone seen how Straight talk actually work?  I must admit that a smart phones appeal for me is internet motivated.  I would like to be able to do ebay purchases and other things on my phone (Facebook Smiley Happy)

Slicktop - to clarify, I did not contact them prior to my upgrade date.  I didn't know the deadline for the unlimited data transfer was yesterday, until I tried to upgrade today (I thought it was the end of the month).  I was even more infuriated when the supervisor told me I could have upgraded early if I had called before the deadline.  They can make an exception to upgrade me early, but they can't make an exception to grandfather my unlimited data just one day after the deadline?

Rather sneaky to make the deadline the 28th, and not the end of the month.  I don't like companies being shady like that.  Also, a letter would have been nice to warn me of what was coming and be clear about the date.  I guess Verizon expects everyone to seek out the news and keep up with these things - and not have the respect to inform their customers in writing.

I should also add that I never participate in discussions on forums.  This situation made me angry enough to sign up and express how I feel.  I really hope Verizon is listening.  They also gave me the executive fax number, but I don't know if it will do any good to fax them a letter.

I did the calcuator and we will be paying more for less. Thanks Verizon!

Currently - 2 smartphones and 1 basic phone for mom unlimited data, 700 mins & unlimited text - combined GB 3 a mo = $159 a mo.

New plan $180!!! and that doesn't include all the taxes so more like $200!

Mom wanted to upgrade her phone, buying her a Tracfone until next summer. Goodbye Verizon!

BTW - 6 mos iPhone 4s stopped working. $169 warranty deductible & paying $10 a mo for a warranty? This week's Target ad - $149 for new iphone 4s. So not fair!! Once again another fine example how Verizon treats loyal customers.

BBurger1,

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought they had told you. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Yep, that is something I ran into all the time. CS would not budge and managers in stores were held to very tight budgets for discretion. When it came to getting around a company wide roll out like the grandfathering of the unlimited data, you were on your own. Educated buyer is what they practice. I too became a member today to clarify something as well. Most of the time, and even in today's forums, I've got misinformation already. I was hoping a VZW rep would answer my question but not as of yet.

My best suggestion for you (if you are agreeable) is to establish a relationship with your local corporate store and befriend a rep or two when you buy accessories. They are a wealth of information if you manage them right. Send them a customer or two (your friends) after you know they are reps with integrity, and you'll probably be more informed, should you ask the right questions.

Good luck!

Thanks!

I just want to encourage everyone reading this thread to call customer service and ask to have your call escalated.  The more people that ask to be escalated to a supervisor or higher, the more Verizon will realize how many people are unhappy.

Did the store tell you you had to go through Asurion for help?

My wife has a 4s and we also carrry the Asurion coverage, but the first year is supposed to be through Apple.

Verizon should have either traded off your phone (if they had one in stock), sent you one in the mail, or directed you to the nearest Apple Store for warranty help.

Asurion is only supposed to be year two (and beyond) or things that Apple won't cover such as liquid damage.

To keep this post on topic, please sign my petition to tell the corporate pigs at Verizon that we disapprove of the the status quo.  Share Everything either needs to be just a plan option... not the plan.

Hey Michael,

There is already a petition up here:

http://www.change.org/petitions/stop-verizon-from-killing-unlimited-data-plans-for-existing-subscrib...

Please go sign that one and share it everywhere you can (it already has over 9,000 signatures).

Also, can you edit your post and replace it with this petition?  We need as many people going to the same place as possible.

Thanks!

Yep, got that one already.  Back on May 17th.

All I know is these guys need to start listening to their customers instead of paid focus groups.   Oh wait, if they listened to us we would tell them the truth.

To quote Colonel Nathan Jessup (Jack Nicholson), "You want answers... You want answers... You can't handle the truth."

Brian, I think you are right - though verizon was misleading in this sense (or maybe I just misunderstood).  When they said that after 6/28, you'd have the choice of share everything or tiered data, I thought that meant for current & new customers.  I just went to look at the plans on the verizon site and the only ones available (for new customers) are the share everything or prepaid.
