Contract has been up, and thinking of prepaid.

My contact has been completed for 2 years and I am on month to month. My phone is the Casio Brigade. It has lasted longer than any phone i have ever had until recently the text quit working. Tried to connect my back up phone (Moto Razor flip phone) and VZ said I had to get a $10 data plan (BS) on a phone that is older than my Brigade. I am thinking of switching to prepaid because I would come out cheaper even with my 20% monthly discount, which is not on my plan below. I am looking at the $60 2 gig and $70 4 gig prepaid plan. They are suppose to be 3G only, but I am not concern with that.

These are my concerns and questions.

1. Will there be a cancellation fee since my contract has been up for 2 years and do I have to give so many days notice.

2. Can I take my Phone # with me to prepaid.

3. I will probably use a Droid bionic or Casio commando on the prepaid. (phones given by friends)

4. I don't download movies or music. I might listen to Pandora or watch a YouTube video.

5. I live in a rural area, so VZW and ATT are the only ones that work.

6. Why the hell, is VZ wanting to charge me $10 data on my older back up phone. By the way I have used this same Moto Razor flip phone before with no extra charge when my original phone broke. So why $10 now?

7. Asurion wont cover nothing. Always been told wast of money if your phone is to old.

8. This is my plan. The total is $77.83 or $65 w/ discount. Which has no data, With a 2 gig plan would be almost $100. The prepaid would $60

Thank You. Have a nice day.

1. Will there be a cancellation fee since my contract has been up for 2 years and do I have to give so many days notice.  - No. No notice needed.

2. Can I take my Phone # with me to prepaid. - Yes, as long as it is not a 4G phone

3. I will probably use a Droid bionic or Casio commando on the prepaid. (phones given by friends) - Is there a question with this?

4. I don't download movies or music. I might listen to Pandora or watch a YouTube video. - Ok, is there a question?

5. I live in a rural area, so VZW and ATT are the only ones that work. - Ok

6. Why the ****, is VZ wanting to charge me $10 data on my older back up phone. By the way I have used this same Moto Razor flip phone before with no extra charge when my original phone broke. So why $10 now? - Things change.  Feature phones now require a data plan.

7. Asurion wont cover nothing. Always been told wast of money if your phone is to old. Ok.  Not sure what that has to do with changing your plan to a prepaid one.

8. This is my plan. The total is $77.83 or $65 w/ discount. Which has no data, With a 2 gig plan would be almost $100. The prepaid would $60 - Get what works best for you in your individual situation.

The DROID Bionic listed in number 3 is a 4G LTE smartphone and isn't compatible with the current prepaid smartphone plans.

For number 2,the phone number can be switched to a prepaid account.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Thanks for the the reply.. Sorry some of the ? where my way of complaining. The cancellation and taking  my phone # where my main concern. To bad the bionic is 4g it would only show a 3g signal on the screen thou. The commando is 3g. Is the Samsung Galaxy3 3g. Can anyone recommend a 3g Moto or Samsung. They seem to have the faster processor for what I need. The commando slows down or locks up alot.

thanks again

The Galaxy S3 is a 4G device. Also regarding the moto flip phone, if you call them back and ask to have data blocked it will remove any $10 data package. There is not a single VZW basic phone that requires the $10 package, just several where it would be a default feature.
