I can access my voice mail by using *86 but not by using the playback arrow

Which model phone do you have? Try restarting the phone is you haven't yet. If it's still doing it after that, try to Reset Network Settings, and if still having trouble after that, try using the *86 to delete some messages and then test in the visual voicemail again.
