Can I use transfer my current number on my parents' account to a new prepaid phone on my own account?

I currently am using an old brick of a flip phone on my parents' Verizon account. My contract has been up for a long time and I am currently just on the month-by-month payment setting. I want to get a prepaid smartphone on my own account, that way I'm not piggybacking off of my parents' account anymore. How can I transfer my current number to the phone I'm ordering on my own account so that the phone on my new account will have the number my current phone has?

Ensuring you know your account options is very important Rysonn! I am happy to inform you that yes, it is possible to take your current number under your parents account and create your own pre-pay account with the number. The process you want to take is called an Assumption Of Liability.   In order for you to complete an Assumption Of Liability, the current account owner would need to call us and provide us with the authorization to release the mobile number to you. For more information regarding the Assumption Of Liability click, http://vz.to/1zOrUPv and scroll down to Assumption Of Liability.   Thank You, MichelleS_VZW Follow us on Twitter @VZWSupport If my response answered your question please click the "Correct Answer" button under my response.
