Can I use cell phone in Alaska?

I am cruising to Alaska in a few weeks. Can I use my cell service for texts and calls without extra charges to my plan?

As a US state, you can use your phone in Alaska just like you can in Hawaii and the lower 48 for no additional roaming charges. Calls within the US are included, as is texting. Data comes from your plan .In some areas you may see ROAMING on your phone but it is not an additional charge.

The cruise itself might travel through international waters so I would verify how cellular coverage is handled while on board the ship.
