I would like to know how I can get a vanity number from Verizon?

I don't think that's possible.  You are better off looking at what's available from Google voice and using that.  Unless Verizon happens to have the number you want available in it's pool and you find the right agent who can work it out for you.

Google assigns a number based on your area code.  Unless that recently changed.
