It’s really easy to switch your number to a different phone and continue to enjoy our service, Phillip5512. As long as both devices use the same SIM, switching phones is as easy as you described. There are special SIM cards that are intended for Android devices or Apple devices, so you can also use http://vz.to/U2wgl6 to double check compatibility and activate your own device. As Ann154 mentioned, Apple and Android use different voice mails, so be sure to save anything important before the switch. This may also come in handy for moving your information: https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/content-transfer-help/

Swapping your number is that easy, yes.  You would need to add your google account to sync your information and keep google as the default for calendar, contacts, email, etc.

The voicemail will have to be setup again since the Apple servers handle the voicemail for iphones instead of the Verizon servers.

My SIM card can't be anything special as it has worked in phones using three different types of operating systems including the fruit phone.

I don't know where this myth started.  I have had my SIM card in both apple and android with not a glitch in service.  Even activated wifi calling on an iPhone 6 for a time before going back to android.
