i dont understand why they would think i'd sign up for this??
im moving to sprint. in manhattan, their service is pretty amazing.
after 18 years with Verizon, it's time I leave. i hate to do this, but this economy sucks.
am i the only one?

you can keep your plan and phone, you dont have to upgrade
I dunno, but I chatted with a sales rep at the store last Sunday and he told me he's been signing up customers for the Share Everything plans like crazy. I'm not inclined to believe him, but if he's telling the truth, then P.T. Barnum was right; "There's a sucker born every minute."
I just hate to think when the next "sucker" in line will be ME, because every time I do the math, MY bill goes up $30-40 too.
Stop blaming the economy. Noone said you had to change your plan. It is an OPTION.
You don't have to upgrade. You can keep your current plan. You just can't upgrade and keep unlimited data (if you have it). If you're already on a tiered plan, there's nothing stopping you from upgrading again.
However, yeah, it's pretty much recognized at this point that the "Share Everything" plan is tailor made to be beneficial to people who talk/text a lot but don't use a lot of data - which is a very small share of the market. More and more people were (and are) using more and more data. They save on minutes by using Skype and similar. They save on texting by using texting apps that send messages over data connections. So Verizon started charging more for data, all the while advertising "Unlimited talk/text! Share your data! Up to ten devices on the same plan!" Theoretically you can share1 gb of data on ten devices, but realistically you'd probably use that much data on ten smartphones just by leaving them turned on for a month.
