55+ unlimited is an issue

Both my wife and I are over 55 and have lived in FL for the last 5 years. We looked over all the 55+ info carefully and tried the online eligibility tool that states we are eligible for the 55 Plus Go Unlimited plan. However Verizon refuses to apply that promotion to our account. We have tried going online to apply, calling Verizon, going to a Verizon authorized reseller and even to a Verizon Wireless corporate store here in Florida. I waited with the employee on hold for over an hour and was then told they could not put our account on the 55+ because it does not show as a promotion on our account. Nobody can place our lines on the 55+ plan! We simply get a variety of excuses, like it a select promotion to certain people or its only for new customers, none of which is true or listed in the fine print. This is a complete bait and switch from Verizon.

I CHALLENGE ANY VERIZON EMPLOYEE TO PUT US ON THE 55+ PLAN.

I will continue to provide updates daily so that everyone will see what Verizon is hiding!

This is why I hate social media.

55+ was never a readily available plan. Either it shows up or doesn't, pretty sure Verizon stopped doing that since the trial was awhile ago.

If you want to walk into the store and get a plan based off age, therey TMobile who doesn't hide it.

Scott-FL, we value you as a customer and thank you for choosing us as your wireless provider. We apologize for the experience you've had trying to get this promotion added to your account, and I want to look further into this for you. I've sent you a Private Note, and I look forward to hearing from you.

2 more days with people "looking in to it" for me, but ABSOLUTELY NO RESOLUTION. This is proving to be a scam even to internal Verizon employees, who think it is available, but find out it isn't and simply abandon my requests for help.

VERIZON - WHO CAN RESOLVE THIS?! ARE YOU WILLINGLY GOING TO CONTINUE TO PROMOTE THIS?

My next steps may be to contact the FCC to file a complaint, or go to the local TV station's Action News to have them broadcast this scam out to the masses to protect others.

I have come to believe it's not the customer service people.  It's Verizon period.  They don't care.  They will never give their people the tools to do anything to help the customer.  There simply is no need for them to change.  Through branding, mergers, outright acquisitions, and putting stores everywhere they have risen to the point they don't have to care.  Nothing will change with Verizon until competition makes them.  That will not happen for quite a while with everything going on.  Please stop saying you care Verizon.  With the World going through what it is you just sound hollow.

We are truly disappointed to hear you say this. What seems to be going on that has you feeling this way? AlbertoR_VZW

VERIZON has totally ripped me off and lied and lied and lied.  After several chats and calls, I was assured that I would get the Florida 55+ unlimited and that it would cost $40 each for a total of $80 PLUS taxes and fees (which I have seen in writing), as long as your address is in Florida, you are over 55 AND that you auto pay out of a bank account (not credit card).  I did all this - I was promised to get this plan, I switched my husband and myself to smartphones and I got a plan that is NOT at all the above, and it seems different for me than for my husband and MORE expensive.  I'm very concerned that I am going to be ripped off even further.  I am assured over and over that it will be fixed.  I've wasted hours and hours on this.  Apparently, Verizon will not care less when I leave them.

I kept hoping Verizon would redeem themself - I have done everything precisely as they asked, and they've done nothing they promised.  Verizon must be entirely too cocky to behave this way.  So disappointing as we've been with them for years and years.  I will change my mother's plan also.

So take heed - you will not get a solution in this area.  I've tried so many times - total waste.  Goodbye, Verizon.

I just switched from ATT last week.  The sales person wrote the 55+ prices on my folder.  When setting up the phones indicated he could not get the rate but would send a note to get it resolved.   The first bill arrived at twice what he quoted ($80 x 2  vs $40 x 2).  I called an was told the store agent needs to solve.  I went to the store and got the run around that the agent is waiting for the email.     If this is not resolved buy my next bill I'm leaving.

I thought it was simply a way for Verizon to collect the high rate for the first month.  Now it looks from the forum here that it's a scam from the start and will never get the rate.

A soon to be back to ATT customer.

It's never our goal for any of our customers to have this type of experience after working with us via any of our support channels, Mikeaneumann. We sincerely apologize for any misinformation regarding this plan, as some of our plans are only available to select customers who meet certain account criteria. To gain clarity, are you a Florida resident with a Florida billing address on file? When you log into My Verizon and navigate to My Offers does the plan appear since working with the store agent?
