14 day return period, really only 13 days?

I purchased a new phone on tuesday july 30th(used a line upgrade), the HTC DNA.  Nice phone, but with the looming HTC one coming out any week, specially since its finally mentioned on verizons website today with the sign up page, I decided to return the return the DNA and wait for the newer device rather than stick with the already discontinued DNA. Went to best buy today ( tuesday august 8th) and return it and wait for the one, only to be told the 14 days were up, because verizon counts the initial day as a full day and although i could return the phone, id stil lbe locked in the contract.  I was shocked to say the least, did not even consider i was out of the 14 days.  Anyone else ran into this? maybe im just looking at the calender wrong, but i still cant make any sense of it.

Verizon's policy is 14 days and it begins the date of purchase. This was in the agreement you signed.

14 days after the 30th of July is August 13th.

August 12th.  Don't forget there are 31 days in July.

2 days in July. 30th & 31st

12 days in Aug.  1st thru 12th.

2 + 12 = 14days

oh well, glad to see everyone else thinks like verizon.  My thought on it was i bought it on a tuesday, i had until the 2nd tuesday to return it. which is 2 weeks 14 days regaurdless of calender days in a month... at about 2pm would be exactly 14 days that i owned the phone.

man im terrible at typing...should be august 13th i went in to return in and was told i could not....  i went from a happy customer knowing my bill is about to go up 17% due to the expiring employee discount...to now shopping other carriers, sell the phone off to cover most the etf and being done with it over a few hours in a return policy

It's not a question of "Thinking like Verizon", it's knowing how Verizon thinks.
