Is there anyway to block incoming text messages from people NOT in your contacts?

Yes there is. Just use the free spam controls that Verizon provides. You can block up to 5 phone numbers. The block will last up to only 90 days though. After 90 days you'll have to re-enter the number.

To see if your phone will do this, go to Menu>>Settings and Tools >> Phone Settings >> Security >> Restrictions >> Messages >> from there you can choose contacts only...etc.
The lock code (if you have not set one yourself) is the last 4 digits of your phone number. Your menu choices may be different, but I hope I've given enough information to lead you in the right direction.

Nope you are wrong. With phones that have this feature (restrictions) there is only TWO options...which are block all incoming messages or allow all. There is NO option for only contacts. There is an option for only contacts on calling, but that is a completely different thing.

You are right, I never noticed that as I have only ever looked at the call blocking. That is kind of **bleep** to have it for call blocking but not for messages too. Mary

To add to what TheGreatOne and SuzyQ suggested I have provided a link below in regards to the usage controls feature. This feature allows you to block up to 20 numbers. This feature is 4.99 monthly. Hope this helps!

I wonder why they can't make that an option for texting? I wouldn't need it but obviously some people would. Mary

It does seem silly.Maybe it was just an aim for a person to use the spam controls instead

My LG phone had a 'Block All Messages option'. Thank you for the nfo!!! (Restrictions, 1. Location Settings, 2. Calls, 3. Messages --- 1. Incoming Messages --- Allow All, Block All).
