I keep getting these annoying texts from 900080001050. I have NO idea why they keep texting me. I don't think it is a person, but more like a machine or something. Here is one the text they sent me: //BREW:01013D82:22110LNxpeacetothepeoplexbLYxXwsO2E.9Ysg0VuCF9NgeUz_k7dw--.
(without the period).
I get these texts about 10 times a day. Always from the same number, and each time the message is a little different(meaning the random numbers and letters have changed a bit). I have tried going on VerizonWireless.com and blocking this number, but Verizon said I had to put a 10 digit number in. But this number is obviously not a 10 digit number. Which is another reason why these texts are weird. All the texts include {edited for privacy}" in the text.{edited for privacy}is the name of my yahoo (and primary) email account. So that just really makes these texts odd. I have a Palm Pre Plus (if it makes any difference). I have had it for a little over a month, and these talks started a day or two after I got the phone. The texts most often come when I unplug or plug my phone into charge. But, they also come randomly. The texts are manageable, but annoying, and I'd like to get rid of them. Any ideas, anyone???? And, is anyone else having this issue??? ANY help would be appreciated!!!

Thank you to the community for your postings. I can help with the messages you are receiving. This can be caused by a customer using Mobile IM - Yahoo Messenger that switches to a device which is not Mobile IM capable, or by a new customer with a new mobile number. Below is the fix to this issue.
- Connect to the Internet (on a computer) then log into the Yahoo Messenger account.
- Click the mobile device icon (beside the profile picture).
- Click Edit.
A new Web page will open to display a list of mobile numbers associated with the Yahoo Messenger account. - Remove all mobile numbers labeled Verizon Wireless Mobile IM.
I hope this information is helpful and addresses your concerns with the messages you are receiving.
Thanks and have a good day!

I believe that is related to instant messengers signed in on a cell phone. For instant, when I log of my yahoo instant messenger on my computer, is logs me on my cell. It is spam. Try logging into your messenger from the phones text message and reply with 1, and see if that helps. I don't know if that exactly helps, but your issue is on the messenger text side. Someone at Verizon should be able to help with this.

I have a new Verizon phone number and believe the peson who had this number before played a lot. I found out how to stop AIM/AOL spam but haven't found a way to stop this Yahoo spam. Verizon is of no help, they tell me to block the number, as though it is a regular telphone number. The person I talked to said I would just have to accept it. I believe I am a candidate for the new AT&T-T-Mobil merger now. Verizon is less than helpful, to the point of being just plain annoying to talk with..

I'm getting the same messages too today. The username it is addressing is from a Yahoo! mail account. Sounds like Yahoo! is having some technical difficulties at the moment with security.

Yahoo stinks right now my friends that use it tell me. Their new email is horrible and some people can't even get in since the change so I am guessing they changed other things too and it's all buggy. Mary

Did you have your yahoo account set up up to send you notification of new email to your previous phone (the one before the Palm Pre Plus)? Do these text message coincide with new email? That is all what those messages are. Yahoo is letting you know you have email. It just happens to be incompatible with your new smartphone.
You have to disable the text message forwarding of your email to your phone.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

If you pay for yahoo mail plus there is pop forwarding but you would have to go into your yahoo account online to disable the forwarding. I wonder if the person that had that number before had mail plus this and didn't change where to forward it too. Mary

Yes, this is a message from Yahoo IM. If you have "inherited" these messages from a prior owner of your phone number you have no way to stop these messages associated with another's Yahoo account. Contact Customer Care and have them open a ticket for this issue.
