Verizon Scam Texts

This is not the first time it has happened nor will it be the last. I got a text today from Verizon. "You're almost out of data. You have <10% remaining and may incur overage. Switch today to get unlimited data at vzw.com/unlimited"

Im sure many people have seen this exact message. Then i go into my account and see over 38% data remaining. Just thought i would mention to Verizon that the message above not only creates mental distress in people, but it also threatens possible overage charges and attempts to remedy it by making the person upgrade to a plan that is unnecessary. This is called a scam. It ranks about the same as the Microsoft Support Technicians who have 500$ subscription deals. The only difference is I will know exactly who to sue.

Sounds like it's calculating the actual data you're paying for and not any carryover.

So the excuse you are making for Verizon is that although they are capable of calculating total data use on their website and app, they cannot calculate it properly when it comes to trying to make people switch to a more expensive plan.  Way to go.

Our alert systems are meant to advise you in time to take action, and not to cause any distress, Hutchisonfire. It is deeply concerning to hear that your actual usage is so far off what the message implies, though it is an excellent idea to check on your My Verizon to see the true data use. We would like to look further into what has caused this to happen in the past, and help prevent it from happening in the future. To that end, we have sent a Private Note to gain access to your account and some more details. We are looking forward to working with you to resolve this situation.

I get the same false warnings from Verizon every month. I have plenty of data, but still get fraudulent warnings. Very annoying and dishonest.

brianfilms, managing your data usage is very important, and we definitely want to make sure that your alerts are accurate. Could you please tell us a bit more about when this started? Does it happen around the same dates each month?
